Good morning,

It's finally Friday and I'm so excited for the weekend. Why? Well for starters, I want to get myself into cooking mode and prove to myself I'm a kitchen whiz. And going out tonight and I'm definitely wearing my new shoessssss! I'll take pictures. Anyway, I've participated in Fashion Beauty Friend Friday, where every Friday there's a question, and all the participants, who are bloggers from all over, answer the questions. It's pretty nifty cause you get to see different points of views on random topics from people all around the world.

I consider myself a newbie in the blogging scene, even though yesterday marks Bambi's 1 year anniversary (Happy Birthday meeee!!), anyway, it's because one, I'm not really consistent (I'm working on it though), and two I need to introduce my life into this blog a bit more, and I promise I will.

Now for the questions:

1. What technology do you use in blogging? (computer, camera, video camera, tripod, etc...) 
   I usually use my work computer, my laptop at home, my camera, my phone and i Pad.
2. What computer and online technology do you use? (blogging system, photo storage, photo editing tools, etc..) 
   My favourite is definitely Adobe Photoshop, I'm a designer after all, so I'm good at PS. I sometimes use Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Bridge and iPhoto for photo storage and I'm just recently beginning to discover certain quirks in bloggert (the gadgets are uber cool). 
3. What is your process for taking pictures? 
   No specific process, most of the time I get photos of stars or what not from the internet, or from an article I read, If I'm out and about and I have my phone and/or camera I'd snap a picture or two. Retouch what needs to be retouched, conceal what must be concealed, manipulate colours maybe  and voila!
4. When it comes to backdrops for your photos what do you consider? Do you scout locations or shoot the same spot daily? 
   Neither, I just go with the flow.
5. If you could splurge and get one new piece of equipment what would you be buying?
   I'm definitely buying a Canon EOS 5D. But what my dream piece of equipment would be? Without a doubt the beautiful Leica M7 Hermes Edition. Isn't she a beauty?

The Golden Globes III

Third consecutive post in a row, I'm so proud of me. This marks the final post in the trilogy posts regarding the Golden Globes, after that we'll have the Oscars to look forward to, and I still have my NYE post at HUSH, the opening of l'Atelier Nawbar, and of course the Mukhi Sisters' new collection. Actually I'm considering postponing the post a little, because the Mukhi Sisters are on their way to Hollywood as we speak, so that would make a much interesting post don't you think? Anyway back to our main topic of conversation for today, the Golden Globes, who belongs on the red carpet and who doesn't. Here goes:

Natalie Portman in Viktor & Rolf: I know everyone went gaga over this dress. It did absolutely nothing for me. I didn't like the colour, or the rose for that matter. Remove the rose, change the colour, some nice jewellery and maybe I'd like it. And I was especially disappointed, Natalie Portman was nominated for best actress so I expected much more from the pregnant starlet.

Nicole Kidman in Prada: Another disappointment. Absolutely nothing about this dress would make your head turn. It was boring, plain, and so blah. She looks so washed out, nothing distinct about her look. Sorry Nicole, better luck at the Oscars.

Olivia Wilde in Marchesa: WOW! That's all I can say. DRAMA! DRAMA! DRAMA! Stunning, she looks like the night sky doesn't she? I want that dress. It's so Funky Cinderella. She definitely needs glass slippers for this dress. Brilliant.

Sandra Bullock in Jenny Packham: Even though I'm not a big fan of the designer, I loved this dress. I also loved the hair do. I just didn't like 'em both together. But she looks beautiful and it was a good choice of dress.

Scarlett Johansson in Elie Saab: Not much I can say about this one. Scarlett never disappoints in the red carpet. Always looking chic and poised. Love that the dress is the same colour as her skin tone. Loved he bangles. Love her porcelain skin.

Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang: She is undoubtedly one of the sexiest women in Hollywood. Doesn't matter what she does, she's just stunning. But I don't fully agree with this dress. She already has a big bust, why make it look even bigger? Boys, don't answer that! It's a so-so for me. Not a fan, but don't hate it either.

 Tilda Swinton in Jil Sander: Am I the only one who thought this was remarkable? I looooved it. he could use a bit more make up. Just to add a bit of colour, otherwise, I loved it. I couldn't help but wonder if Ms. Swinton was trying to pull another Sharon Stone. When I first saw this, I just got a flashback of Sharon Stone's mind blowing appearance on the red carpet back in '98, where she paired off a silk lilac Vera Wang skirt with a crisp white Gap shirt from her hubby's closet. The Result? Spectacular.

There were so many other stars on the red carpet that either looked ravishing or just plain horrible, but they didn't make the cut. Maybe at the Oscars?

Less chirpy and merry today, and when you listen to this song you'll know exactly what mood I'm in. So sad I'm missing their Dubai concert.

The Golden Globes II

I didn't expect when I said that part II will be soon it was going to be this soon, but  I found myself this morning in need to distract myself, and  I thought what better way than this? Today's quite morbid with the political drama and all. So yes... golden globes.. Red carpet.. Hits and misses. Here goes..

Helena Bonham Carter in Vivienne Westwood: When I first saw this I couldn't believe it. What the hell was she thinking. The more I look at this photo, the more in love I am wit the outfit. I like drama, this is far beyond dramatic. Not too sure about the shoes, but Really kudos! 

Jane Krakowski in Badgely Mischka: For once pregnant elegance. I think she looks beautiful and radiant. The colour, the simplicity, the flow of the gown with subtle lace. Love it.

January Jones in Versace: Also one of the dresses where I loved it, then I didn't, then I loved it then I didn't. I think I made up my mind. I don't love it. The colour is beautiful on her, with her skin colour and blond hair, maybe if she had a smaller chest? I don't know I just don't like. Sorry January, but this is a miss.

Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Mrad: Maybe if it were in a different colour I'd like it, but the hair and make up? Definitely a NO.

Julianna Margulies in YSL: I actually like this dress, but she looks short doesn't she? Maybe if it were longer and different shoes? But it's pretty.

Julianne Moore in Lanvin: I didn't mind that it was creased, the material is delicate and she couldn't go to the Golden Globes on foot, so it is definitely going to crease. I'm just not sure about the sleeve. It looks off!

Kyra Sedgwick in Emilio Pucci: I loved it. The colour is fresh, she looks happy, I love that the bag is the same colour (I'm into the whole monochromatic look this season), and the gold bangles really complete the look.

Lea Michelle in Oscar de la Renta: This really didn't do it for me. She looks like a pink flamingo. I would probably wear it if it were in black? Or maybe a jewel tone (emerald green, ruby red, blue sapphire) but as it is, I'm gonna have to pass.

Leighton Meester in Burberry Porsum: There was a lot of controversy regarding this dress. I loved it. Yes it's conservative, but it's a very contemporary Pride and Prejudice look, n'est pa? And I love the shoes.

Megan Fox in Armani Privé: I don't like anything about it. And when I first saw it, I thought it was definitely a Lebanese designer. I was disappointed when I found out if was Armani. And she's lost a lot of weight, she looks like a bobbing head doll.

Michelle Williams in Valentino: I don't know who I'm disappointed in more, Michelle Williams for wearing this, or Valentino for creating such an atrocity. Daisies? Really?

Mila Kunis in Vera Wang: Let me start off by saying, brava for gaining weight after Black Swan, and double brava for looking ravishing. The dress, the make up, the hair, and the colour. Green was big on the red carpet and I actually want a green dress now. Isn't she just breath taking?

Milla Jovovich in Armani Privé: I am not a fan. AT ALL.. Milla Jovovich is a natural beauty, you can dress her up in a garbage bag and she'd still look good. Until she worse this dress. The colour, the cut, the whole thing. Again it looks like it's by a Lebanese designer. Am I the only one who's seeing it?

I still have a few more left. I'll do that one in part III soon. I promise. Hey, I didn't disappoint this time.

The Golden Globes I

As promised in my previous post, I will be discussing the red carpet.. It's a bit late I know, but it's been crazy/not so beautiful the past week, well, more like the whole year, but we're not gonna discuss that. Now it's all about happy and pretty things and a bit of "What the crap was she thinking?" The beauty of the fashion world is it's all about taste, fashion is relative, to each his own style, BUT, and even though I hate buts in general, this is a BIG BUT, think J Lo and Kimmy combined sorta thing, there are Do's and Don't's in the fashion world, and Do's and Don't's on the red carpet and here are a few of my faves and some of my oh -no's. I've chosen 35 dresses, and yes I know, they won't fit in one post. Well technically they can but I'll split them into 2 or 3? Not sure. I'll play it by ear. I will however go about it in alphabetical order. Here goes:

Amy Adams in Marchesa: I can't really make up my mind about this one (and a few others that will follow). I love the colour on her just not sure if the top part of the dress matches the bottom.

Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace: She's one of those you just love to hate because she's perfection. The dress is ravishing, I am one of those who loves to choose one part of the body to reveal.. Either a lot of cleavage, or a bare back, or a lot of leg etc.. She excelled in the bare back look. Beautiful.

Anne Hathaway in Armani Privé: Another bare back dress that is outstanding. One of my favourite looks on the red carpet, and when did she get so thin and sexy? I've always found her stunning, but this oozes sex appeal. A definite stunner. Lots of hearts for this one.

Carrie Underwood in Badgely Mischka: Nothing spectacular about this one. It's very déjà vu, it's pretty. It's SAFE.

Catherine Zeta Jones in Monique Lhuilier: This dress is pure perfection. It ticks all the right boxes. Drama? CHECK. Glamour? CHECK. Elegance? CHECK. Red Carpet appropriate? CHECK CHECK CHECK! Catherine darling, you're the epitome of beauty in this one.

Christina Hendricks in Ramona Keveza: The colour? Beautiful. The actual dress, hair and overall look? What was she thinking? She looks odd doesn't she? She looks like she's about to transform into a red swan (yes I'm still under the Black Swan influence).

Claire Danes in Calvin Klein: Simple and elegant. Red carpet worthy? Not so sure. But I like the look.

Dianna Agron in J. Mendel: Love the colour on her. She looks great. Radiant. The accessories work well. Good job. 

Elisabeth Moss in Donna Karan: She looks amazing doesn't she? Would've preferred different earrings, maybe so nice bracelets. Love the bare neck and love the colour. Loving the curves.

Emma Stone in Calvin Klein: Another simple, elegant Calvin Klein dress. I love it. Love the hair, love her tan. Just love it. She looked ravishing.

Eva Longoria in Zac Posen: I'm a big fan of the designer, and the one wearing it. But it didn't do it for me. Not the dress, not the bare neck, not the cut out back. None of it. Tsk tsk.

Halle Berry in Nina Ricci: Another disappointment. Nothing about this look works. It's not feminine. Nothing about the look is. Except the bracelets, but with a dress like this, which in my modest opinion is pretty damn bla, it needs bling. And lots of it! Actually scratch that, there's no saving this dress. It's a NO!

Heidi Klum in Marc Jacobs: The dress is unflattering and not red carpet worthy. Sorry Heidi, unless you had a beach party to attend, it don't work.

♥ STEFANEL ♥

Every one's blog posts now revolve around the Golden Globes, and I will get on that bandwagon soon, but before I take time to really research the dresses and for an opinion, I just had to share my love for the Stefanel SS11 collection. Always been a fan of Stefanel and still believe that it's not being given the justice it deserves. So my dear readers, behold the beauty of the collection.

Bambi in the Kitchen?

Hey hey.. How's it going? Well, this being a blog that's all about randomness, mainly because I'm a very random person, which I'm not even sure makes a lot of sense, but in my head it does, I have an announcement to make. I have decided, that hopefully every weekend, I'll be cooking. Yup ya heard right. I will be trying out different recipes and I will hopefully remember to take pictures and post them. Why have I come to this decision? Because I love the kitchen, I love baking, I love creating.. and I know I'm good with desserts (I'm oozing modesty right now, don't kill this for me), so I thought, what the hell? I've always loved to do this, but have always been too lazy, and my promise to you will be my incentive. Fingers crossed.

2010 in Under 3 minutes

I stumbled upon this video (coincidentally I mean, not the site), and I thought it was interesting as it recapped 2010 world events, and then it hits you, with everythign that happened last year, and all the times I thought this year was never going to end, it really went by in a flash.

Commercials are.. Commercials..

My aunt who lives in London used to video tape (notice how I said video tape and not record, that's how long ago it was) all the commercials and send them to my other aunt who works in a magazine, and I, being young and curious, would always watch the se ads over and over. Don't get me wrong, I loved Walt Disney cartoons but I have always enjoyed good ads.. A lot of them are still carved in memory, and that my friends is what I call good advertising, when 15 years after the commercial has been released, the consumer still remembers the story line or at least has the jingle memorised. So since then, I just really enjoy good ads and I will be sharing the ones that I like with you. Here are a few that I have recently come across:

All About Antoine...

Hi my lovelies. It's a Monday.. Not just any Monday it's the first Monday after the new year. I will not discuss the events of the holidays just yet. I don't think I'm ready.. Buhhh! I have promised you a few posts but all in due time. I would however, like to share my success story in the kitchen, something I did promise in my last post to share.. Sweet potato casserole was deeeeelishhhh! It was the perfect addition to a very succulent turkey. My chocolate fudge pie was hoovered in less than 10 minutes. I gave myself a pat on the back for that one. Was so proud. Considered opening a bakery. Yes I get carried away sometimes.

Now all this aside, this is something I discovered this weekend and it upset me that I hadn't discovered it earlier. There are two clips., the first is the original.. The true story.. The second is.. well, let's just say the second is a remix. Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for Antoine Dodson.



Yes yes I know. But it gets better. A song was made for Mr. Dodson by the Gregory Brothers, which reached number 89 on the Billboard's Hot 100 list (kinda reminded me of Chris Crocker. Remember him? And how he shot to fame in no time) He gave a live performance of The Bed Intruder Song (below) with Michael Gregory, was interviewed on NBC and CBS, and it is not available on iTunes and has sold over 100,000 copies. Ahh Mr. Dodson, who would've thought, eh? I'll leave you to it! Enjoy.

'Tis the Season to be Drunk

Good morning my little darlings. And how are we today? No I'm not this cheerful this morning but I think caffeine is beginning to kick in. Yay me! 2 hours of work later and I'm just beginning to wake up. I love December. Well.. I used to love December. Now December is a pain. Engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, weddings, pre-wedding parties, friends-came-from-out-of-town-so-we-should-go-have-dinner-then-drinks outings, bachelorette parties and so on and so forth. All the while, being stuck at work since 8 am barely focusing because 1. lack of sleep and 2. You have no idea what happened the night before but your throbbing head kinda gives you a clue. So you chug on caffeine, smoke like a freaking chimney, because the damage you're doing to your lungs just by spending a few hours in let's say.. Zinc on a Sunday night is not enough, and pretend to work while the clock changes from 8 to 9 to 10 etc... in extreme slow motion. Only to do it all over again.

The bigger problem is, I would suggest taking the whole month off, but in a lot of cases, it won't be a paid leave, and if there's anything I've learnt about Christmas, it's the massive damage I do to my bank account. I'm guessing a lot of you are the same. So my only solution , or the only thing I can come up with is cut my vacation days during the year and save 'em for December, that way I can take off at least 2 weeks in December,(is it worth it though?).

Anyhoo, 3 things I'll be posting about soon.. actually make that 4 in the hopefully near future:

1. My contribution to Christmas dinner this year: a sweet potato casserole and an orange flavoured dark chocolate fudge pie with almond shavings (will try to post pictures and will let you know how they turn out.. fingers crossed).
2. The much awaited opening of L'Atelier Nawbar , and what the Nawbar sisters are all about.
3. The Mukhi Sisters' (Jewellery with an Attitude) new collection and more.
4. Last, but most definitely not least, HUSH2011.. Yup, you guessed it.. The new year's eve party. This one's gonna be for the books.
