To Date or Not to Date!

Good morning. Yes I'm in a fabulous mood and all because yesterday was a day off and I spent some good quality time with my girlfriends! Yay me! (the wine helped play a big role in making me cheerful this morning). Anyway, this won't be a big post, it's actually short. To all those of you who have no date on Valentine's, but do have someone in mind but not sure whether to make the move or not, here's a brilliant guide to helping you make your decision. Intrigued? Good. So was I!

Enjoy and let me know if you try it and what happens ;)

And today's song choice, Kevin Hammond. Many of you might not know him, but he's gonna be big.. Big I tell ya.. Check it out:

I Know What You Did Last Valentine's!

Alright people. It's the cursed month of February. Why is it cursed? Because Valentine's day happens to  full right in the middle of it. And so far, even though we're day 2, it hasn't started very well. Now you may think I'm bitter for disliking Valentine's because I'm single. Well you're wrong. 1. I am not bitter and 2. I am not single. Why do I hate V day? Because when you're single, everyone else finds a way to rub it in your face and give you lectures abut how you'll find someone eventually and give you looks of sympathy. And if you are with someone, the search for a gift. Oh how I hate gift shopping.. Last year, funny enough on the same date, I wrote a post about the Mukhi Sisters' Valentine's ad that stirred so much controversy it's ridiculous. A lot of people definitely loved it, some people thought it was obscene. But guess what? It worked. Why? Because people still talk about it till today and that's when you know it was a great success. In case you missed it, this was last year's ad.

Brilliant isn't it? Funny thing is, it became a typical hand gesture. Check out Facebook pictures of random people, along with the rock, peace and f*** you hand gestures, you'll find the F U Valentine's gesture (yes I named it myself). Not only that, "I Buy my own gifts on Valentines" became a very commonly used phrase. Now, what's this year's ad? A continuation of last year's brilliant idea. It's to tell the boys that the Mukhi Sisters are also thinking about you.

Brilliant aren't they? The genius behind all of this is Fadi Mroue of the one and only république. Best creative agency in town. Sheer geniusness no? Love the Mukhi Sisters. Love république. So come on peoples start buying your loved ones (and yes you can consider yourself to be your own loved one) gifts for Valentines. And since I feel the love in this post, here's one of my all time favourite tracks and video. Just makes you want to get up on your feet and dance!

Blue Monday

Monday blues. PMS. Gloomy rainy day. Rough night. Bad mood. And it's not even 9 a.m. yet. Lovely innit? So Friday, thank God I forgot my camera, because I don't think it would've lasted the night. My phone battery decided to die one after I had to reboot because "File system out of resources". If it gives that on more time I'm smashing my blackberry on the wall. Anyway, it was definitely a memorable night and Flaming Lamborghini's apparently don't appeal to me. At least 5 in a row don't. If you don't know what it is, it's this pretty little thing on fire on the right, it contains Kahlua, Sambuca, Blue Curacao and Baileys. I'm getting sick just thinking about it. But oh what a night! The next evening obviously no one could even smell alcohol let alone taste it, we just ordered in and watched a DVD.
Since Valentine's in coming up, yes I know you didn't need a reminder, and I know a lot of you want to get your loved ones a pressies, and if you're single, I say go buy yourself something for Valentines. Sound familiar? That's right! It's the Mukhi Sisters' incredible Valentine's ad last year that caused a stir. Their latest ad? BRILLIANT. The song, the photos, the ladies who are beautiful inside and out. I love everything about this ad. Now please notice how this beautiful thing can be used for a headpiece, a head band and a necklace. It's all in the ad. Check it out. And I think it's the perfect Valentine's gift.

And for the music lovers, here's the song that's the only good thing about this horrible gloomy Monday.

Valentine's Day is SO over!

Last night Im A'antar and I went to C&G to write letter to our future selves then went to the movies. If you haven't seen Valentine's Day.. consider yourself lucky. If you're single, you're going to hate the movie even more because with all its lameness, it still manages to get to you, which would then drive you crazy.. It's cheesy, it's boring, it's lame ridiculously predictable and in no way was there a single story (since it's around 10 stories that somehow intertwine) that was original. The movie theatre was almost empty, and for good reason. Julia Roberts acts for 6 minutes, and got paid 3 million dollars. And if anything, I think her 6 minute role was the most interesting and most amusing. But all in all what a disappointment! I was looking forward to watching it for its remarkable cast, even though the child in the movie was terrible. He's cute fine, but cute doesn't cut it. And that scrumptious Eric Dane (please see below and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about), where life got better when he showed up half naked, but the final result was slightly, heartbreaking?? Or Bradley Cooper's shots, was he hitting on Julia Roberts or wasn't he? One minute they're barely talking and then next they're playing Backgammon, the scene-cut was really confusing. Patrick Dempsey is a Doctor (shocking), really? And Taylor Swift, congratulations, you have managed to annoy the crap out of me (her role is to be annoying, but her hair looks so pretty you can't stop looking at it.. anyway.. back to the point..)Only two movies come to mind, Love Actually and He's Just Not That Into You, while Love Actually was kind of cute, I really can't make up my mind about the others. BUT, if you're in a certain mood, the sappiness of it all might.. MIGHT... get to you (not as in a nervous breakdown or anything, just craving the idea of love).

Tradition says Valentine's day is romantic..

Hello hello hellloooo... So it's the day after valentine's, and guess what? It was the best Valentine's day I've ever had. No, I didn't have a date, a secret admirer, I didn't even get a rose.. BUT.. This whole weekend was spent celebrating the Mukhi Sisters' birthdays. Yes two of the sisters' birthdays were a day apart. So it started on Friday and lasted till 2 a.m. last night. I need a week to recover. But I thank them for making my Valentines blues disappear. And by the way a lot of the people partying with us last night were engaged, married, or just dating, and I think there might have been a love match or two! So who said Valentine's has to be couples' night? For next year, to all you readers out there, try something different... have a night out with friends, it's so much more fun.. Good music, good company and lots of alcohol is the perfect remedy for anything!
This is what I've been listening to all weekend... Enjoy and Cheers!

Hearts and chocolates...

Valentine's is nearing and the pressure for us single ladies is just unbarable. Everywhere I go there are hearts and roses and so much red (it's sickening)and this recurring billboard campaign with a message asking the ladies to make a move (a campain lead by Ivy and Exotica). It's the talk of the town and it has intrigued the curiosity of many. It's simple, it's encouraging women to take the rolke of a man on Valentines (and everyday for that matter) where the girl makes the first move by giving the guy of interest a rose. The idea is, why should the girls wait for the guy when they can take matters in their own hands. Excellent approach from Ivy's side! But a bad move for the rest of us who don't have the courage or the ability to go beyond our own rules or beliefs or dreams (knight in shining armour on a white horse) to make that extra step. Why is it a bad move? Because after asking the boys around, I came to a conclusion, they're not willing to make a bit of effort this year, because, why should they? Let's face it, it takes as much courage from a girl to make her move as it would for a guy, difference is, they've got the hang of it because they've been doing it for so long, so now, with this new trend, they decided to sit back and enjoy.

I hate Valentines never liked it. Is it cause I'm single? Maybe but the idea of having this one day where people make that extra effort to prove their love, just doesn't do it for me. A rose on any other day, for no reason, means so much more than a dozen roses with chocolates and jewelry!

To those in love, Happy Valentines. To those who aren't enjoy, and don't sit at home sulking, life's too beautiful to waste it on someone you haven't met yet!

Jewelry with an Attitude (part II)

You know how I started going on and on about the Mukhi sisters a couple of blogs back? Well their new ad is out. Hello Valentines and F*** YOU! "I buy my own gifts on Valentines" is the slogan, and true it is. Who said that you need a man to buy you jewelry on V day? I mean a lot of single ladies out there, independent, working hard, don't need a man to buy them things or to spend on them! Yes we are the women of today, we spend on us and we live, not survive... LIVE! Live, laugh, love, eat, drink, dance, sing, work, party, and spend on ourselves. So all you single ladies out there, get yourselves something for valentine's, call up your friends and go out, Valentine's is over rated anyway (and yes I'm only saying that cause I'm single)! Thankyou Mukhi Sisters for helping us realize that life is good, and we should treat ourselves on V day! Kudos, big ups, bravo, chapeau, standing O, very well done! (check the ad below, isn't it excellent??)

P.S.: This ad and the previous one for the Mukhi Sisters was designed by Republique!
