You Little Strumpet!!

Good morning! It's Friday and that means hellloooooo weekenddddddd! Not that I Have any major party-plans for the weekend, or a chance to actually sleep in.. wait.. Why am I excited??? Right! No work! woohoo! That's right people, I have weddingS this weekend.. Emphasis on the S. Oh well, hopefully good music, lots of friends, and alcohol! You know what sounds like a party to me.

Anyway, (I tend to drift away from my point, I think it's the Catcher in the Rye effect), I'm dedicating my post to one of my favourite designers Nicola Helgesen who is the genius behind La Petite S***** (previously known as La Petite Salope which means.. that's right.. The Little Strumpet) Ingenious name for a brand don't you think? Anyway, Ms. Helgesen dropped her career in visual merchandising to pursue a career in fashion, and boy am I happy she did. She's known for her corsetry, which, by the way, is extremely comfortable. When a few years back, my aunt and mom bought me an LPS dress, I thought it was original but never found the occasion to wear it until this year, and I remember getting lots and lots of complements on my dress and when I was at Fenwicks when, honest to God, the only dresses that caught my eye were in fact LPS but they were too $$ for short dresses considering I wanted a long dress. So I left with a broken heart.

Her dresses are so feminine and sexy it would make it almost impossible to be flattering, but no no! Helgesen proves otherwise. The fabrics are divine and the cuts have that vintage glam with a contemporary look; lots of drapery (which I absolutely love) and comfortable corsets, that I promise you, you feel your sexiest when you're in an LPS dress. I'm disclosing a few images of the AW2010 collection, and if you like what you see, I highly recommend you visit the site.

Song that's on repeat in my head? Hey Soul Sister - Train because there's a ukulele in it and something about that makes me feel like it's summer time. I blame it on Jason Mraz. I heart him too :).

Et pui je fume..

Good morning people. Yes I'm still alive, and no I haven't been hit by a bus. But in Beirut it's wedding season (that basically includes weddings, engagements, katb ktebs, pre and post celebrations albeit dinner, party or clubbing) so if I'm not running around for a wedding I'm organizing, I'm running to find something to wear, do my hair, make up and still find the energy to dance the night away on the beginning of a couple's (hopefully) happily ever after.

Each wedding, the bride steps on our feet and pinches us, ('us' being those who are still single), and for those of you who don't know the reason behind this superstitious nonsense, it's simple really, the single ladies will follow in the bride's footsteps by getting married. It's like us being single is a disease; I insist on using the word 'us' and not 'I' because there are tons of others like me (or so I tend to hope). Thank God! I wonder if single hood is contagious! By the way, I started this post with every intention of thrashing the World Cup and writing a fashion post, i even have the pictures and I did my research and everything, but this just comes to show you the frustration that's building up, that the minute I placed my fingers on the keyboard, my thoughts ran away with me! But that's OK, because now I have to be a bit more catering to my blog, and I'll have something good to write about tomorrow.

P.S. I miss slow dancing! Whatever happened to that? We don't do it in clubs (obviously) or in weddings. What a shame!

Ta-ta for now
sending all my love, hugs and kisses to the entire world (if only that would make a difference). and leaving you with my mood today! Enjoy!

World Cup Feverrrr

This is just to inform you that my posts from now till July 11th will be strictly on the world cup! 'Why?' you ay ask.. Simple! I love it. Having something you're so passionate about for such a brief period of time is amazing.

So sorry if you're disappointed, but I can't help it. I'm this freak in the world cup, I don't even recognize me during the games.

Very Happy for Ghana! They do need to pick it up a little to actually make it. As for Germany, I support any team that plays against them (sorry German supporters, my mom is a big fan if that's any consolation, and she rubbed it in tonight as much as she possibly can) but I have to admit, best game so far, and they really brought it on, very well done. Congratulations! (How's that for sportsmanship? Pretty good eh? Even I'm impressed, considering the fact that I'm a sore loser).

Rooting for Cameroon tomorrow, and not so sure if I'm with Italy or Paraguay tomorrow! And I hate that feeling! *sigh*

You give me world cup fever. in the morning!

Today's games are:

Algeria vs Slovenia
Serbia vs Ghana
Germany vs Australia

Don't care much about Algeria or Slovenia so won't be bothering myself with that game. Definitely rooting for GHANAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! And I think they're going kick some major Serbian butts today.. As for Germany, for some reason, never liked 'em. My mom's a supporter, and I am with any team that plays against them. Sorry Germany supporters.

Anyway, I got a comment from a fellow blogger, and his blog is is pretty cool and thought I'd share it with you: ads for the World Cup and they're amazing.. Check them out here!

Dearly Beloved, The world Cup Rocks and I'm sorry!

I hide my face in shame for being so ridiculously late in my posts! And no, no! I have absolutely no excuses. It's been quite a ride the past month. Ups and downs. Not much to update you on, it's quite boring (kinda).. However, summer started which means lots of partying and weddings. and yes I do complain about going to weddings (it's a hassle for us girls you know, hair, make up, mani/pedi, wax/shave etc...) But I do enjoy them and the pre and post parties (like the past few days which have been incredible.. friend got married and to make a long story short, invitees are still recovering), anyway, it's a happy time for me, even though I am a bit envious of those ladies who've finally found their prince charming ( at least I'm hoping that's why they're getting married) but oh well, to fellow single people out there, our time will come.. eventually!!

Besides that, who else has WORLD CUP FEVER? It's quite big here actually. Flags everywhere for a bit over 2 months now, on the balconies, cars, restaurants, phones and I'm loving it. I'm an ENGLAND fan and I believe they're going to win this year. I'm really excited about the games and he get-togethers that we'll be having. Although not too sure my friends would want to watch another game with me (They think I get carried away.. But what do they know, right?? RIGHT???? Yes! thank you :) )

It's been a long month and it's time for me to crash, but I promise to not be so long with my posts. I'll leave you with this for now. I'm kinda obsessed with him.

Big ♥ to you all.

Uproar and Personal

I won't start my post today by apologizing for being late with my posts, yet again, because it's the same old story and I haven't come up with a creative excuse yet. So I'm just going to jump straight to the point.

As you all know, heard, seen on TV, newspapers, facebook, twitter, every where actually, the new Miss USA is an Arab-American, more specifically a Lebanese Muslim. My Lebanese friends, in particular, and my Arab friends in general, started forwarding this piece of news to all their BB contacts, send it via e mail, post different links from different sources on Twitter and Facebook. And to me it didn't matter and I didn't understand why people were making such a big deal. I don't need America to crown a Lebanese in a beauty pageant to prove that Lebanese women are beautiful. So I honestly couldn't care less about this piece of information until I read an article on the leader of a millenarian group who believes this crowning is the sign of the coming Armageddon. The crowned beauty's name is Rima Fakih, and Moulana Fatima Darvishi, the spiritual leader of the Circle of Pious Warriors and Noble Pilgrims, linked her family name Fakih to wilayat al Fakih stating:
"This is the sign that we have been waiting for,” said Ms. Darvishi to a group of assembled followers. “The rise of a faqih to rule over America is a symbol of the justice and righteousness of the Islamic Revolution.

She also stated:
“When this noble faqih ascends from her rulership over the USA to claim her place as ruler of all of God’s creation — as Miss Universe — then that is when the world will be filled with justice, and time will end.”

She would not have it when she was told that it's only a beauty pageant and the Ms. Fakih is not the actual ruler of USA. Darvishi replied:
“There is no point in trying to spread misinformation and propaganda. The current order has fallen! We hereby swear our allegiance to Her Supreme Majesty Rima Faqih and announce our undying loyalty to her magnificent command. We also call upon all heterodox feminist millenarian groups all over the world to join us in our call for a global revolution to prepare the way for Her Supreme Majesty’s eternal reign.” (according to Qifa Nabki)

Debbie Schlussel, a conservative commentator, used Fakih's heritage, a Lebanese Shia, to label her as a terrorist Miss Hezbollah, stating:
"Mark my word. Hezbollah is laughing at us, tonight. One of its auxiliary members won the Miss USA title without having to do a thing to denounce them and their bloody murder of hundreds of Americans". (according to the Guardian

And then it came to me (no, there were no flashing light bulbs, or sudden light and the very holy ahhhhh in the background; I don't remember what the ahhhh is called) that this will not end here. This is not just another beauty pageant. This will cause an uproar in a lot of areas, as proud as people are with this crowning, I don't think they know how it's going to end. I don't think most Americans are pleased with the result, I'm not sure that fascist Muslims will approve of this, and with the above information, I think this is going to be a long ride for the Beautiful Fakih, who by the way has a brilliant sense of humour; when asked how she felt about winning, she told them she'll get back to them after she has a pizza.

Shopping May-hem

This blogging world is going to leave me jobless.. I spend hours every day reading blogs, from fashion, to lifestyle, to random mumbo-jumbo (kinda like my random mumbo jumbo) and even cooking blogs (they're quite inspirational actually). And I made a list of things I want to get badly as a result of my not-so-spare time at work.

Item 1: I honestly can't find a nice denim jacket. Don't get me wrong they're everywhere but I can't find one that just jumps at me.

Item 2: Isn't this 23-karat gold-plated ring set from Maison Martin Margiela just divine? The website is pretty cool too.

Item 3: I want a nice striped Breton top. I think I'll find one at Zara or H&M.

Item 4: Still obsessing over the Alexa Satchel from Mulberry.

Item 5: And I'm telling you this is the most coveted item at the moment. Everyone's wearing it, and I still want it. You can find this Miu Miu inspired dress at Zara.

Item 6: Oh my, these sunnies are amazing. The thing about Ray Ban is that, they suit all face shapes.. Well most face shapes. And they're quite affordable. Next time you see me out and about, I will be wearing these really funky passe partout Cat sunnies.

Item 7: The Hummingbird Bakery cookbook. I won't be buying this. I'll be stealing it off Milky Way. It's nice to have a friend who enjoys making and eating desserts as much as I do.

Guess what I'll be doing this weekend..

My Bucket List

Good morning,

I'm sorry I've been MIA for the past week, but I was working 12 hours a day, no social life what-so-ever and I managed to start and finish (well as finished as I can be) Glee. And yes I have become more musical and singing everywhere more often. Last night I was thinking, there were quite a few things that I want to do before I die, and I've created so many lists and I don't remember where they are and if I actually scratched off anything yet. So instead of writing a 100 things that I want to do, I decided to make it more realistic, more grounded, and hopefully, more doable. So here we go... My Bucket List:

1. Visit every continent.
2. Organize an event for charity.
3. Visit Santa in the northpole (I'm dying to see his workshop.
4. Go to the Himalayas.
5. Save a life.
6. Start my own bakery or coffee shop/library.
7. Sky Dive
8. Bunjee Jump (on top of water)
9. Swim with dolphins (and no Atlantis in Dubai is not my idea of swimming with dolphins).
10. Cross off everything on my bucket list.

What' yours? What is one thing you want to do before you die?

My Beautiful Smile

Good morning people! It's Monday again, and I'm trying so hard not to fall asleep or break into tears! It's going to be quite a long week, in a no fun kinda way.

Anyway, have you guys heard of the My Crest Smile competition? If you haven't basically you can nominate yourself by signing up, uploading a picture, and if you get the highest votes, then you get to be on the cover of the July edition of Femme magazine. Woop-dee-doo. There are a few who are a bit deserving because of their killer smiles, but here's the thing, when it comes to a product such as Crest for example, now we all know that all the ads are random people with bright beautiful smiles, but in a way, it makes you want to try the product just so you can get that bright smile, right? Even though you know that it's not true, but you'd like to believe otherwise. With a competition like that, doesn't it sorta of lose its credibility? Because that smile is going to be by someone who probably never used crest in her life, someone with veneers perhaps? Or maybe implants. I don't know it just does and it's frustrating... Possibly cause I'm jealous? But what would I be jealous of? I don't know. It's just bothers me. But anyway, check out the thousands of girls and their sunny bright smiles here. Vote if you can, I know I did for this girl. Hypocrisy? Definitely! It's kind of a love-hate thing! I don't know. It's Monday and I'm confused! Have a nice day.

I ♥ Beirut!

I'm going to keep this very short and extremely sweet. Yes I'm one of those who post anything that praises Lebanon or Beirut because I want people to view Lebanon the way we do (by we I mean the Lebanese and people who are familiar with our style of living). The image of Lebanon has been so distorted by western media that we try to prove otherwise. According to the NY Times we were voted one of the top cities for tourism. And according to this article, also by the NY times, you can tell why. I'll let you judge for yourself.
