Jewelry with an Attitude (part III)

Hello hello. So as you can tell from my title, I am talking about jewelry, and not just any kind of jewelry.. No no... I'm talking about jewelry with an attitude.. Figured it out yet??? Exactly.. The Mukhi Sisters.. And they're back with a double bang.. Back with a fantastic ad Click here for a recap (part I) and (part II)
And if you guys remember, I've been in love with their ads ever since they started. They're so simple but their slogans ooze femininity and empowerment. Here's the ad:

And here are a few things from their collection, and these are just earrings, wait till you see the rings.. Oh my heart if I could own them all... *sigh*

And here's their multi-use headpiece, head band and choker. Isn't it so purrrrttttyyy??? Yup yup I know I loved it too.. Especially that all three uses remain big trends this summer. And the prices, as I mentioned in the previous parts, vary so whatever your budget is you can definitely find something there.

Imma be.. Fit!

Hello people, Spring is in full bloom and I'm loving it. Been walking from work to the house or to wherever my destination is after work because the weather is beautiful. And because summer is right at the door. Seriously it's a knocking and I ain't answering! Why? Because, like everyone else, I tend to hit the gym right before summer instead of well.. making it my lifestyle. I'm just lazy like that, I can sit for 6 hours watching tv without moving and I won/t be complaining. Give me 4 push ups, and I'll bitch and scream like.... a bitch? Hahahaha but seriously, I'm keeping this short and ummm short :D summer's here people time to shed those few extra pounds and start toning up! this coming from me? Ha! I'll get back to you in a month if I last till then I'm giving myself a pat on the back!

Fancy a Wienie?

It's Monday... yet again.. And I stillllll got the blueeees for youuuu.. Sorry about that but for some reason I'm singing everything today.. So big possibility I have just broken into song and dance, but you wouldn't know cause I ain't telling!
So here's what I decided, every once in a while, possibly on a weekly basis, I will post a random (I'm aiming for 'weird' but just in case it wasn't weird I'm sticking to 'random') trend or finding in the world. And today's ultimately bizarre finding is Gum-Flavoured Hot dogs.
Yes people, I am serious! The can (that looks exactly like a hot dog can) contains 16 cocktail wienies that you just chew on! I find a hot dog that doesn't taste good with ketchup and relish and doesn't dissolve in your mouth at a certain point, just disturbing. Oh and it comes with a simmering red sauce. I have no idea what that one is for.
I wonder if they're serious or if it's just used for practical jokes or if it's real.

But I think I gave it more time than it actually deserves, so I bid you farewell.

It feels like Paris in the springtime...

Good morning all your wonderful people out there. It's Thirsty Thursday and I'm Thirstyyyyyyyyy! But that's not happening tonight, it's all about tomorrow.. Why you may ask? Extra candle this year! Not fun! But anyway, today is a day off (supposedly) but I'm slaving away behind my desk. Didn't have time to create my sets but I did come across a blogger who shares a common interest avec moi.. Chanel and Fashion! Her fashion sets are stunning and I picked out 3 of my favorites. I love the colours, so pretty, so fresh, so chic! And I think by now you have noticed that I'm obsessed with neutral colours and nothing too flashy. Anyway I hope you like my selections for this week's set (multiplied by 3), and if you feel the sudden urge to spend all your month's salary on these items and just go out out and walk around town, it's perfectly normal. I'm itching to do that. Ta ta for now!

Diets and Cupcakes.. sigh

It's finally Wednesday.. 2 more days for the weekend. I seriously need the break from work. Tomorrow was supposed to be an official holiday, but not for me! Nope! I'm coming to work like the good girl that I am. I should get employee of the month! So anyway, I came across a blog yesterday, and I think it's adorable, it's called Confessions of a Cupcake-Loving Fat Girl, it's sort of a journal of a 25 year old girl living in the Middle East and apparently conscious about her weight and she wants to lose weight. It's refreshing to see something like that, so I urge you to take a look. And support people.. Lord knows we all need support with something like that. At least I do. And summer's coming up, and I need to lose weight too I will not only support her mentally, I will go on a diet too.

Suleiman stole my heart..

I've got the Monday Blues! Stayed late at work cause I'm swamped. Deadline for my 1248745875687 projects at hand? April 9th! *sigh* But anyway, today I don't want to complain about how I hate Mondays, I wanted to share with you, a finding. Some people might have heard of it, or are familiar with it, but Im A'antar and I discovered it last night (does someone telling Im A'antar about it also be considered as 'discovering' it?? Yes? No? Maybe? I don't know.. Can you repeat the question... You're not the boss of me noww... ) Moving on! So, what is this great finding you may ask? It's called Shankaboot. It's the first Arabic webdrama (for those who haven't figured it out yet, it's a drama series on the web.. I'm not judging) in the Middle East (as opposed to Arabic webdrama in Europe? Hmmm food for thought.. Anyway, it's basically about a 15 year old delivery boy named Suleiman, aka Shankaboot, and his adventures in Beirut. I'm rhyminggggggggg... Moving on.. again.. Each episode is around 4-5 minutes, and it's unbelievable what can be shown and portrayed in that time span because I am hooked. new episodes every Mondays and Wednesdays, and to all those who live in Beirut, this is what it's all about, and to all those who live abroad but whose hearts and souls are attached to Beirut, this series is as close to home as possible. It's raw, it's real, it's current and it's funny. Please check it out, the website is pretty cool as well. Each episode is accompanied by its own game. I guarantee you a new obsession. Enjoy!

Oh and it has English Subtitles, it's not the same but just in case you non-Arabic speakers decide to take a look.

Saint Patty's

Hello to you alllll! As you know today it's all about the green. No I'm not talking about money, but may you all be blessed with loads of that in the bank, I'm talking about St. Patrick's Day. you know, Ireland, 4 leaf clovers etc.. etc.. So I put together an ensemble (click here for prices) that has splashes of green, because today, if you're not wearing green, you will be pinched! You have been warned!

P.S. I've been so swamped at work that I just realized I posted this a day after St. Patrick's, thinking it was the 17th. My apologies, but anyway, that was my green pick! Gotta love the green!

Lady G and Honey B

Hello hello hello! I know I know I've been gone for too long but I promise, no trips out of town anytime soon (I'm hoping otherwise though). So, what's on everyone's mind the past week? Besides the whole Rielle Hunter and John Edwards scandal? Lady Gaga ft. Beyonce's new video. Not a video per say, more like a colourful short film.
If you guys haven't seen it yet, here it is.
The highly awaited video premiere raised so much controversy that CNN claimed MTV banned the video for it's graphic and explicit content. Wasn't true by the way, MTV aired it an hour after it's official premiere on E! But it's doesn't get aired prime time! For obvious reasons. Anyhoo, what did I think of the video? It was outrageous. The outfits are edgy, bizarre and down-right fabulous. The Striped outfit she had on at the beginning with the strong shoulder pads was stunning! Definitely wearable, alongside the black and white outfit she had on after she was bailed out. I loved the 'latshe' in the beginning about her not having male genitalia after she was thrown into the slammer with a very blurred area The song is definitely worth the praise. The patriotic outfits? Didn't get it. At first Beyonce looked like Wonder Woman and thought hmm.. Maybe.. But what about Gaga? The scenes didn't quite mesh well. There were a lot of question marks, for example the scene where she's covered in yellow tape,
but then again Gaga did say that it doesn't matter if the scenes make no sense, when she has a vision of something she just knows she has to get it done, so that anwers a lot of questions, I guess? I suppose. The cigarette burning sunglasses were definitely an added kink, even though at a certain point watching the cigarettes burn so close to her face, suffocated me.. I felt like I couldn't breathe. And her hair rolled up in pop cans, was hilarious. She had the madonna thing going on, when Madonne first started, only this one is more provokative. I didn't get the point of the kissing scene. Couldn't even tell if that was a man, a woman or a transsexual! But it wouldn't make sense if it were a man, since it's an all woman's prison, and why kiss a woman? She's already gotten the whole world roaring at the entire video. Kissing a woman won't change much, unless she's trying to tell us something
.. hmmmm. It's these little things that didn't really work well together for me. After the whole jail scene, and dancing around with a beautiful studded leather jacket that she takes off to reveal a very fragile and extra thin body in a matching studded leather bra and a pair of very skimpy undies. My descriptions of the scenes are quite random and not in order, but they're the first half of the video, the second half is all about her an Honey B (Beyonce) as the Kill Bill homage starts with the two poisoning everyone at the diner and flee in the Pussy Wagon. I was in love with Gaga and Beyonce's outfits that recreated from Uma Thurman and Daryll Hannah's parts in Kill Bill and transformed to be Gaga and Beyonce suitable! Gaga's "eye patch" was an
extension of her hair that looked like a telephone covering her eye and the phone cord as the strap. I thought that was ingenious.
I didn't get the food dance, but again a weird kink, the blue telephone hat and the scenes of beyonce in the bedroom with her incredible blue outfit, made no sense to me, but
she looks really good. Most of the outfits just scream Alex McQ *tear* but I'm not sure if he's the genius behind them.
So all in all, I had mixed feelings about it and about Lady G. The video is very pop artsy and to for those who are fans of pop culture, I think this takes the prize, it's very colourful, a feast for the eyes and looks very costly.. but that's ok, because the not-so-subtle products that occasionally pop up definitely covered the costs of making this video.

Alice! Alice? Who the f*** is Alice?

Tim Burton has inspired the world as a whole with Alice in Wonderland. Be it fashion inspired or from random daily vocabulary. Now the word "muchness" makes sense. And almost everyone I know is looking for their muchness, because they've lost it. I watched the movie with high expectations but people's remarks about it being disappointing were echoing in the back of my head. But disappointed was far from it. In case you haven't seen it don't read this part. You can just jump on to the next paragraph. I don't want to spoil anything for you. The movie was magical, colourful, scary at times, funny and witty. Few things I thought the movie lacked, were music, more randomness and weird terms and a few characters. Whatever happened to the Duchess for example? Actually she's the only one I could think of oh and the little king. He was stupidly funny. I was looking forward to sing along to the songs but it not a musical sequel :(. But don't get me wrong, I would re watch the movie over and over again. And I'm looking forward to Tim Burton's rendition of Sleeping Beauty called Malifecent and Dark Shadows . Ooooh the excitement. I just hope they're not realesed in 2014 like Kill Bill vol.3.

As a lot of you may have noticed, Alice is the New Black. Yes yes, it is! And no don't think that it's going to be the new craze for little girls, it's more for the adults. Plus ever noticed how much it's inspired everything? For example Gwen Stefani's What are you Waiting For video , make up (a palette from Urban Decay especially for Alice lovers), nail polish (O.P.I. created a limited edition collection inspired by the movie and it is pure Underland wild). Even Jewellery, photo shoots and WEDDING CAKES. Check out Sue Wong's Alice in Wonderland fashion line.

I did a small collage with everything that is Alice and I'm in love with every single item in that collage. (Click here for details and prices).

Gone Oscar Wild!

So I didn't watch the Oscars. (the time diffence is mad) but I did raid the internet for red carpet photos. And Saw the best and worst dressed photos. I think I'd be on the worst dressed list because honestly, I disagree with most of these rankings. And wow, Avatar didn't win best picture.. What a shocker! (no sarcasm I really am surprised, I would've bet money on that movie winning the award, but then again, I believe almost everyone thought the same thing) So anyway, my lovely Candy Floss had her own list (click here) and boy do we have different opinions. This is why fashion is so diverse and so open. So we'll start off with

My Worst Dressed List

Zoe Saldana in Givenchy The bodice is beautiful but it just doesn't go with the rest of the dress.. And how many poodles had to die to make that ugly thing? Honestly.. But kudos for being gutsy. Even though you've gotta be pretty drunk high on something and to wear that in public.

Charlize Theron in Christian Dior The back is pretty, but the front? What a disappointment. It killed any chance the dress had of being wearable.

Virginia Madsen in.. I don't even know what she's in, but what was she thinking?
There's so much going on, with the royal blue and black, and the see-through chiffon on top of the lace bodice, then lace on top of the chiffon and you have a belt and there's a floral attempt going on at the back. And don'tget me started on the hair!

Mariah Carey in Valentino I don't know if it's the dress that I don't like, or if it's her in it. The dress is simple and pretty but she looks like a buffalo. It's not for her figure at all. What a shame! She murdered the dress!

Sandra Bullock in Marchesa She looks so bla in this dress. It's not sexy, or fab. A lot of detailing but it just didn't do it for me.

My Best Dressed List

Carey Mulligan in Prada That was in almsot everyone's Worst Dressed list, but I loved it. What's not to like? Beads? (not really beads, more like mini forks and scissors but it worked anyway so..) Check! Sweetheart Neckline? Check! Different? Check! Fabulous shoes? Double check! I think it works. Loved the look. Loved the dress. Just beautiful!

Amanda Seyfried and Jennifer Lopez in Armani Privee I don't understand how these 2 dresses were on the worst dressed list. Everything about them oozes glamour and Red Carpet Chic. Of course I loved J Lo's dress more than Amanda's but I think they're gorgeous and I would so wear them.

Penelope Cruz in Donna Karan You can say it's so 'deja-vu', and you can say nothing new.. But these dresses are lassics. You can never go wrong. They're so elegant and fabulous that everytime anyone wears a dress like that, I will stop and admire. Beautiful!

Vera Farmiga in Marchesa Now that is one hot tamaleeeeeeee... The colour, the cute, the detailing.. I lvoe everythign about the dress. It is faaaabbbb! Two thumbs up for Vera! Well done!

Cameron Diaz in Oscar De Le Renta I'm not being biased because he's my favorite designer, but honestly, how stunning is that dress? I think it made almost all the Best Dressed lists. You know why? Because it's Oscar! So glam. I love that it's worn on pale white skin and love the bright red lips with the retro hair! Perfection!

Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab Again, I;m not being biased because he's from my home country, but I loved the dress before I realized he was the designer. It's a typical Elie Saab cut, and the colours are so pretty. Very butterfly-ish no?

Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham Now that was truly shocking. I would have never thought Miley Cyrus would be my ultimate face on the red carpet. Despite the fact that her head is as big (if not bigger) than her torso. The dress is stunning. The champagne coloured gown, in my opinion, would've looked better on even whiter skin, but I'm going to give it to Miley anyway. She looked feminin, sexy, elegant and just fabulous.

Now there were other who worse beautiful dresses but I can't fit them all like Demi Moore in Versace, Sarah Jessica Parker in Chanel, Zoe Kravitz in whatever it was she was in, Samantha Harris wore a beautiful Elie Saab gown as well. Definitely something I would pick out for myself. Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep were so elegant and their dresses were so age appropriate. Katherine Bigelow's dress was too boring! Samantha Harris and Deborah Ann woll were clueless when it came to gown choosing, and I still don't know what to make of Maggie Gyllenhaal's Dires Van Noten number or Diane Krugers Chanel dress. Hillary Swank and Vanessa Hudgens were too 'out there' with their extremely revealing dresses. Nothing left for the imagination.

Popcorn and Diet Pepsi!

Morning everyone. I know I've been absent for a while but I've been out of town and now I'm back :) with the Monday blues :( And I missed the red carpet, but I'll definitely watch it in the next couple of days and I'll let you know my best and worst dressed for this year! I'm also watching Alice in Wonderland tonight and I'm soooooo excited. But anyway, I watched quite a few movies this week and I miss it! Sitting home and watching movies.. *sigh* So anyway, I watched Everybody's Fine, let me tell you.. Robert De Niro got to me. His performance was so tantillizing and so honest, you actually feel everything he's feeling. It's excellent and contrary what a lot of people thought, including myself, it is NOT a comedy. I also watched Hachiko, I had never heard of the movie or anything about it, and I didn't even know that Richard Gere had anyt
hing new released, until this weekend. When they told me it was a story of a man and his dog, and a lot of the movie is from the dog's point of view, I felt I was about to cry. I wasn't in the mood for dogs and whatever, but I sucked it up. Had it not been with the 3 strangers watching it with me I would've definitely bawled. It was really difficult to fight back the tears, but I think I did a pretty good job. No one noticed the two tears the rolled down my cheek but it's all good. It's really slow, but the music was fantastic and it's such a sad story. A true one I might add. I know my dad is going to love it. Sherlock Holmes? Epic! unlike Hachiko, this movie is quite fast. No dull moment.. And the beauty of this film, it's as if the writer sat in the viewer's head, because any questions you might have, are answered. Very well done, and I think they should make more Sherlock Holmes movies. And if Robert Downey Jr.'s looks never did it for you.. I'm almost positive you'll be weak at the knees. Up in the Air, was surprisingly not boring. Clooney is so dreamy.
It's not a happily every after tale, or very much of a happy ending.. It's real. It speaks to the viewer. Not my favorite movie, and I'll probably forget about it, but it's entertaining, contemporary and so real.
I need oget back to work, and I'll let you know how Alice in Wonderland goes. I've been hearing so many mixed reviews that I don't know what to expect!

How to be 'Chic & Trendy'

I am loving the trends for 2010. It is still a bit 80s inspired which is more of a reason to fall in love with it. Here's a list of the trends starting in Spring and making their way to Fall and Winter (most of them anyway) and my favorite outfits off the runway, get with the the list, and look Fabulouuuussssssss!

Army Jackets One of my favorite trends for the season. Check out Balmain's fabulous take on the army look

Sheer, Lace and Crochet it doesn't have to be a full outfit, look at Nina Ricci's Skirt with peeping lace at the bottom, it's stunning) Dolce and Gabbana's shoes are to die for. The Prada baga are stunning even though the second looks like a copy of Valentino's Lace bag a couple of years ago. And The cute Reiss T shirt with a pair of jeans and booties would look fab.

Florals Check out Stella Mccartney's Beautiful floral dress.

Stripes They can be risky but if worn properly? You have the ultimate chic outfit. My favorite striped outfits is from the Givenchy runway (below).

Black and White Hermes (below) makes me want to learn tennis so I can wear the outfit. It's beautiful.

Neutrals It's always Chloe's neautral or nude colours that draw my attention the most.

Futuristic Not so keen on this trend, but Alexander McQueen pulled quite the show with this trend.

Printed or Patterned Pants Dries Van Noten did quite a job with prints and patterns.

Underwear (Inside out)Sexy feminie corsets and in some cases bras? It's not a trend for everyone that's for sure. (Below from left to right: Jean Paul Gaultier, Loewe, Christian Dior)

Drapes I'm a big big fan of draped clothing especially dresses. I find it flattering, fits all body types, and it's so feminine, the idea of having a piece of cloth draped over your body. Especially if it has any sort of embellishments such as Givenchy below.

All those trends along side Denim, Denim, Denim, Biker Jackets, Hot Pants, High Slits, Boyfriend blazers, Bows and Bunny ears, Wedges, Short nails, bleached eyebrows (I really didn't get the point of that one), gladiator shoes, high waist (hoorahhh), Harem pants, Ruffles, paisleys, fringes, Greek style dresses, one-shoulder/asymmetrical (double hoorah) etc..
