'Tis the Season to be Drunk

Good morning my little darlings. And how are we today? No I'm not this cheerful this morning but I think caffeine is beginning to kick in. Yay me! 2 hours of work later and I'm just beginning to wake up. I love December. Well.. I used to love December. Now December is a pain. Engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, weddings, pre-wedding parties, friends-came-from-out-of-town-so-we-should-go-have-dinner-then-drinks outings, bachelorette parties and so on and so forth. All the while, being stuck at work since 8 am barely focusing because 1. lack of sleep and 2. You have no idea what happened the night before but your throbbing head kinda gives you a clue. So you chug on caffeine, smoke like a freaking chimney, because the damage you're doing to your lungs just by spending a few hours in let's say.. Zinc on a Sunday night is not enough, and pretend to work while the clock changes from 8 to 9 to 10 etc... in extreme slow motion. Only to do it all over again.

The bigger problem is, I would suggest taking the whole month off, but in a lot of cases, it won't be a paid leave, and if there's anything I've learnt about Christmas, it's the massive damage I do to my bank account. I'm guessing a lot of you are the same. So my only solution , or the only thing I can come up with is cut my vacation days during the year and save 'em for December, that way I can take off at least 2 weeks in December,(is it worth it though?).

Anyhoo, 3 things I'll be posting about soon.. actually make that 4 in the hopefully near future:

  1. My contribution to Christmas dinner this year: a sweet potato casserole and an orange flavoured dark chocolate fudge pie with almond shavings (will try to post pictures and will let you know how they turn out.. fingers crossed).
  2. The much awaited opening of L'Atelier Nawbar , and what the Nawbar sisters are all about.
  3. The Mukhi Sisters' (Jewellery with an Attitude) new collection and more.
  4. Last, but most definitely not least, HUSH2011.. Yup, you guessed it.. The new year's eve party. This one's gonna be for the books.

Stay tuned and may you have a more pleasant week than mine. I will leave you with a taste of what HUSH is all about.. *cough*DeLaSoulwillbeperforming*cough*.

Google Beatboxes as a Result of Bad Weather!

I have so much to blog about that I don';t know where to start. I can always start from the beginning, I just don't know where the beginning is, so as a result, I have no idea what to say or write about. I and thought and thought but that little bulb on top of my head just wouldn't light up! I blame it on the damn weather. Everything is influenced by this weather.. TVs, cable, BBM connections, internet service, traffic, electricity... The list goes on, believe you me.. And these are just a few things. My trail of thoughts, I believe, is the most affected. Won't even justify that with an example. No I Won't end this post here, I will end it in a few lines, but I really wanted to share this with you.. Go to google translate, type pv zk bschk pv zk pv bschk zk pv zk bschk pv zk pv bschk zk bschk pv bschk bschk pv kkkkkkkkkk bschk click from German to German and then click on listen. And that's how you get google to beatbox. Pretty cool eh?

Sleeping Beauty and the Necrophiliac

I am mortified. So much for fairytales and Disney cartoons. Snow White and Sleeping Beauty were the very first Disney fairytales I've ever seen as a child. And of course, just like every other girl, we all tried to sleep the same way the slumbered, and were fascinated by the beauties of these princesses. Yes I wanted to be a princess and I believe I am (don't juge me). Right until I came across a piece of information that just devestated me. I am really mortified beyond belief and yes I want to shatter your dreams same way my dreams were shattered. The story of Sleeping Beauty that we know and love so much? Well, it's a lie. A LIE I TELL YA! ANd yes all men are docuhe bags.. And Prince Charming?? Wasn't a prince.. or charming for that matter. He cheated on his wife with what he thought was a corpse. Sick eh? Yup... My sentiments exactly. Read on!

Sleeping Beauty and her Rapist
"Wise men warned the great King that his daughter Talia was in grave danger – there was poison in the palace’s flax. A ban was put on flax but as expected, Talia still ran across a splinter while spinning flax on the flax-spinning wheel. In great despair, the king placed her sleeping (or dead) body on a velvet clothe and left her in the forest.

Some time later, a rich nobleman was hunting in the woods when he ran across the abandoned body of Sleeping Beauty. Far from planting a kiss, the nobleman instead raped her sleeping body, from which resulted a pregnancy. Nine months later, Sleeping Beauty gave birth to two children (and named them Sun and Moon) and the forest fairies took care of them while Sleeping Beauty continued her slumber. Whilst placing the babes to Sleeping Beauty’s breasts, one of the children accidentally mistook her thumb for a nipple and sucked out the poison splinter. Talia awoke from her deep sleep.

Months later, the nobleman decided to return to the woods to have more sex with Sleeping Beauty’s body when to his surprise, he found her awake. The nobleman confesses that he raped her and they again had sex in the barn. The nobleman then returns home to his wife.

The nobleman’s wife found out about the sexual encounter and ordered the children be kidnapped and cooked alive. The cook prepared the fiendish disk and served it to the rich nobleman at his dinner. As the nobleman finished his meal, the wife boldly announced “you are eating what is your own!”. Alas, as it turns out, the cook had a soft heart and instead of killing and cooking the children, he substituted a goat instead. Talia and the children and her rapist new love interest lived happily ever after."

(according to altereddimension.net)

So.. whaddaya think? Are you mortified too? Until I actually get over it, I am still looking forward to Burton's Maleficent!

Not so sleeping,

I'm the Little Strumpet!

I usually start off my posts with a 'Good morning', this time I'm starting it off with a 'good evening' m darlings. It's been a tough and quite frankly a very hectic month. I'll spare you the details, not because I love you (I do though, it's virtual love) but because I don't feel like remembering. So I'll go straight to the point, remember a few months ago I wrote a post about a fashion brand that I'm crazy about, called La Petite S*****? Well my little darlings, the Spring/Summer collection is out and I couldn't help but share. Why? Because the clothes are fabulous. Below are a few of my favourite items in the collection, even though I'm literally in love with every single look.

To view more of the collection click here. And since we're discussing one of my favourite brands, I thought it be appropriate I also share one of my favourite songs currently on repeat.

The Birds and the Bees.. MAGIC

Good morning people. It's finally Friday and I can't wait to catch up on so major needed sleep, laziness and probably lots and lots of DVDs. I am getting old. I can't neither party as much as I used to, nor as often. So I decided to no longer fight it, and just give in to my body's needs. (I'm considerate that way... what??? I am.. honest.. sorta.. oh leave me alone..).
Haven't really been updated with the fashion world, or the random world, or any world for that matter, and that's because I've been living in my own little bubble.. mentally... and in the real world I'm just working and working.. and working some more. So now that I'm trying to get back on track, I wanted to share something with you. Won't get into details, but you know the stories of the birds and the bees? Well my little darlings, the fashion world has gotten familiar with it too. When designers, bloggers, singers, celebrities and big fashion brands come together, fireworks, magic and champagne bottles are the result. What am I talking about? Simple. Some pretty darn impressive collaborations. Here are a few of my faves.
  • Jewellery brand DANNIJO and internet celebrity and blogger Rumi Neely.
I'm already coveting a few things especially the double ring. I'm in love...

  • Swarovski and Karl Lagerfeld.
Actually Swarovski is collaborating with more than one designer, I chose to ignore the others :) (I'm biased that way.. sue me). So since cuffs are big this season here's one to love. ($335)
  • Beyonce, Temptu and Deréon
Beyonce and Temptu worked on temporary tattoos for a shoot for Deréon. They turned out so beautifully that they decided to sell them. So I say, So long pretty dainty Chanel chains and pearls.. Hello dark and bold bolts, jewels, spiders and chains.

  • Lanvin for H&M
I like to save the best for last, and I'm telling you Lanvin and H&M in the same sentence? That's music to my ears. The collection hits stores November 23rd. Not sure about Beirut though, even though the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection was released her.. Oh well.. Fingers crossed people. Check out the entire collection here and weep. And check out the video.

That's all for now.. I'm sure there are many collaborations, but it's almost 11, I'm on 4 hours of sleep and I actually have work to do. Thank God it's Friday. And because I heart you all I am going to share one of my new song obsessions, Kanye's Runaway.

Hibernating soon,
Bambi

Hike of Hope.. Hiked

A few months ago I wrote about a journey a friend and his buddies were about to embark, Hike of Hope. Click here for a recap. They climbed mount Kilimanjaro and it all went well..
Just wanted to share the video of that journey with all of you.

Hopeful,

No sense of Bravura!

Good morning! I woke up in a good mood today. Had 7 hours of sleep and I'm having Starbucks. Long live caffeine! Wasn't going to post anything today until I came across something a friend posted on facebook, thought it was funny enough to share with all of you! Aren't I just lovely??

Karl Lagerfeld’s top 5 tips for surviving the credit crunch

  1. Don't eat. Eating is so Seventies and this is today. I eat only celery and even that I am not enjoying. Pale green is so uninteresting.
  2. Dismiss your assistant chauffeur. No one has an assistant chauffeur anymore. Assistant chauffeurs are so yesterday.
  3. You do not need more than 200 white shirts at any one ti,e. Anything more is excessive. I threw the rest of them away when I hear of the arrival of the credit crunch, and I tell you I felt so good about myself.
  4. Forget charity. Do you want to encourage beggars, hmm? Of course, you do not! It would be different if they possessed any sense of bravura, if they styled themselves on the Ballets Russes or they came out onto the streets with the Audrey Hepburn look. But they do not. The only charity that is acceptable is Save the Tiger, because - at all costs - we must not let lose the real tiger fur. I just adore it. It's so chic.
  5. Never travel first-class. It is so common. No one should travel first-class, with all those strangers with their coughs and their germs.
No: a private jet or nothing at all.

The website I got the above from is pretty cool, if you haven't come across it already then I insist you do. It's called adinnerguest. Ok people and now for the music part of this entry, I've never mentioned him before but I am today. He's Lebanese and he lives in Canada and he is absolutely effing brilliant. His name is George Azzi, and while today's song is a cover for Damien Rice's Blower's Daughter, you have to check outt his YouTube channel and check out his other covers (such as Jazson Mraz's I'm Yours.. it's better than the original.. I promise) and his original songs. He's going to be big I tell ya!

And so it is,

She's Madonna!

Good morning fashion-obsessed people? And how are we on this awful Tuesday morning? Sorry about my overwhelming enthusiasm but really my insomnia is getting ridiculous and my inability to get up in the morning is worse. Did I mention the fact that I take power naps in the toilet or in an empty office just to survive the day? Yes it's that bad.

Anyway, enough about my one out of many disorders, and let's move on to something more exciting. Like what you may ask? Well, how about Dolce & Gabbana's Autumn/Winter 2010 ad campaign. I am aware it was release a few months ago, but yesterday I was checking out their collection in Beirut, when I decided to browse through the website this morning and really paid attention to the campaign. I'm a Madonna fan. BIG TIME Madonna fan.. wanted to be her when I was younger, and secretly want to be her now. She's got it all. My point? She looks effing fantastic. Never thought the legendary M would be the type to inject her face with bottox, fat (extracted from... ermm... certain areas in the body) and such, butt it suits her (pun intended... obviously). Now the series of photos are snapshots replicating the movie "Mamma Roma" and according to S.G., “We wanted to continue pushing our current message that shows fashion’s more human nature and our heritage. This is yet another tassel of that mosaic. We believe the campaign is comforting and that people will somehow identify themselves in the images, which again display a more human and approachable side of Madonna.” There is no human and approachable side of Madonna people.. She's MADONNA.. She's like the female version of Michael Jackson (in terms of fame), she revolutionised the music industry, influenced millions of people, changed the way men view women, pushed the boundaries of sex in terms of explicit lyrics and racy videos and wrote a book about her fantasies called SEX, had songs written about her, and she became the world's top-selling female recording artist of all time. So please explain to me how a woman like that is not intimidating and is approachable?? Hmmm?!? Nothing?? Exactly. Because she's not! Plus, as beautiful as the campaign turned out to be and as fabulous as she looks and really.. I mean.. FABULOUS.. I don't get why she or anyone else for that matter would wear a Dolce & Gabbana outfit to clean the floors or catch a chicken. But that's just me. I'm posting the pictures below.

Am I right?? Doesn't she look fabulous with a capital F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S! Anyway, this song may not go with the campaign, but Coma asked me to listen to it and I loved it and I felt like sharing. (Fanks luff)!

Regrets.. I've had a few..

It's been a long long loooongggg week. I feel like I've aged 10 years. Actually I got that comment 3 times in the past couple of days. Not good. Not good at all. Just read something that got me thinking about my life and the choices I have made. How I would've done things differently perhaps. What I would have done with my life.. My career.. the decisions I've made that got me to where I am today. Maybe It would be the same thing all over again. Who knows. But it really got me thinking. So to all of you who are in college, or high school.. Read this. I got it off the NY Times I wish I had back then.

Advice for freshmen from the people who actually grade their papers and lead their class discussions.

College is your chance to see what you’ve been missing, both in the outside world and within yourself. Use this time to explore as much as you can.

Take classes in many different subjects before picking your major. Try lots of different clubs and activities. Make friends with people who grew up much poorer than you, and others much richer. Date someone of a different race or religion. (And no, hooking up at a party doesn’t count.) Spend a semester abroad or save up and go backpacking in Europe or Asia.

Somewhere in your childhood is a gaping hole. Fill this hole. Don’t know what classical music is all about? That’s bad. Don’t know who Lady Gaga is? That’s worse. If you were raised in a protected cocoon, this is the time to experience the world beyond.

College is also a chance to learn new things about yourself. Never been much of a leader? Try forming a club or a band.

The best things I did in college all involved explorations like this. I was originally a theater major but by branching out and taking a math class I discovered I actually liked math, and I enjoyed hanging out with technical people.

By dabbling in leadership — I ran the math club and directed a musical — I learned how to formulate a vision and persuade people to join me in bringing it to life. Now I’m planning to become an entrepreneur after graduate school. It may seem crazy, but it was running a dinky club that set me on the path to seeing myself as someone who could run a business.

Try lots of things in college. You never know what’s going to stick.

— TIM NOVIKOFF, Ph.D. student in applied mathematics at Cornell

Good luck,

Curvy 'Butt' Firm

Good morning. I'm right about ready to pass out on my desk. But the rumbly in my tumbly would probably wake me up.hdo I do this to myself? I have no idea.
What's the topic of the day? Nike Ads! Why? See for yourself!

This may seem familiar, for it's plastered all over facebook. But this my dearies is a fake. It's not a Nike ad. The text is, but it's photoshopped. The real ads(emphasis on the 's') are below.

Pretty cool are they not? Love the idea, the contrast of power of the body parts and the femininity of the colours of the paint blotches, the message behind it all... It's incredible. I don't think they'll be able to outdo this one. To the Creative Director at Nike Women... I bow to you

Dr. Phil vs. Dr Bambi

Hello beautiful people of the world. I was talking to a friend of mine the other day and I'm considering taking courses in writing. I'm thinking I want this whole writing thing to be real, professional maybe? I see a career change, that's what I see. But don't take my word for it. I'm an Aries, I'd probably wake up tomorrow and decide to become a doctor. no. No I don't see that happening.

But one thing I've always wanted to do was write an advice column. Why? Because I listen, and I seem to give the right advice to people. I don't know why I am never able to give myself some good advice. So what do you think? Send me a private message, with just about any question about love, friendship, relationship, anything at all, just nothing medical, not an expert there, even though I am Lebanese and as you may know, al Lebanese are ready born doctors, designers, bankers, pharmacists, architects, carpenters, mechanics etc.. etc.. But seriously now, send me a question, I'll post the question with my answer and the writer can be anonymous.

Yes? No? Maybe? Ah well... I'll wait.. Just a suggestion.

F*** You! You're Famous!

I'm taking a break from my must-haves posts because my heart can't handle it. I'm teasing myself. Sucks don't it? Anyway, I'm considering buying myself a professional camera (Nikon maybe?), carrying it with me everywhere I go and taking snapshots of outfits I find cool. So ladies and gents, I will be taking your photos and odds are I will post them on the Internet. Just for style purposes. I'll try to crop your heads, but in case you're wearing any sort of head-piece, then you can forget it.

Thank you for your time and cooperation. Please enjoy this song while you worry about your photo being plastered on the Internet :D.

Much Love

Must... Have... Now... (part III)

You know what's worse than waking up early on a Monday and going to work? Waking up very sick on a Monday and going to work! So yes basically I'm sick and I'm at work. No concentration what-so-ever. (I'm giving you an excuse for whatever it is I may write in this post.. Just in case..). So today's hand-picked droolable (works, no??) items are black. All black.. Loves it.

From Burberry Posrsum to Stella Mccartney, Chloe to Marc Jacobs.. everyone has their own take on the wool-blend double-breasted coat. My favourite is definitely McQ's. It's perfect.

Winter's around the corner, and I don't know about you but I do like pretty umbrellas. But this McQueen one is just divine. I think it's going to sell like peanuts, and I have a feeling it's already sold out.

Speaking of skulls, How beautiful are these Swarovski crystals and skull earrings??? I so want me a pair. Tom Binns, thank you!

Pleated skirts and kilts are big this A/W, but Pringle of Scotland funked it up a little, the zipper and leather made all the difference.

I saw this Notte by Marchesa dress at Harvey in June, the day it arrived, it was available in fuchsia and electric blue. Next day I came back to try it on, it was GONE!!!! SOLD OUT!!!!!I think same's going to happen this one. So ladies, grab it before it's too late.

What kind of fan would I be if I don't include at least one La Petite Salope dress? Just look at it. Perfection. *sigh*

This DRKDSHDW by Rick Owens is such a passe partout item. Day and night, casual and smart.. Love it.
Love these Alexander McQueen lace leggings. They make the outfit. Just wear it with a t-shirt dress and voila.

When it comes to Carven, you can't expect anything less than elegant. This body suit is flattering for almost all body types. It accentuates the shoulder and neckline and emphasizes the waist. With a high-waisted pencil skirt... Vavavoooommmmm.

This lace-sweater dress by... yes.. you guessed it.. Alex McQueen.. is just amazing. And if you see the design up close, the finishing is stunning. I thought the white part was printed.. but nope.. It's all lace. Ahh lovely..

Final piece of today's post, double-wrap skull bracelet by the Skull King's label.. AGAIN. I'm loving the collection.. Really.. Mr. Lee, you'd be ever so proud.

I'm really sick by the way, but this song is putting me in a good mood. It's so hopeful. Love it. Enjoy!

Kisses

MUST... HAVE... NOW... (part II)

So many pretty things, so little time, so little space and so little cash *sigh*! A few days ago I posted a few of the things that I'm drooling over. Today, I'll be posting more of my drool-worthy items. But now I'm going to sort of categorize them! At least in this post, so the theme of today's post: CAMEL. Why? Besides the fact that it's THE colour of the season, the items I found in this colour are just God damn fabulous. You'll see...

Aren't they so purrty? You can dress 'em up or down. Perfect for going out for coffee with friends in flats, a denim jacket and a cute tee or pairing it with a pair of heels, a nice shirt and gold accessories! I heart the Kors.

Leather is still on, and people are mainly focused on leather dresses and leather pants or skirts. Haven't been seeing many leather tops, well.. ones that I would actually like at least, like this one. Maje, I congratulate you for making leather tops so chic. I can just picture this with a nice A-line skirt and pumps.

Now this is divine. Definitely my favourite. Ahh Chloe, no one does camel better than you. If only I can wear this and get away with it! I think I just fractured my heart!

No wardrobe is complete without a trench! It's a must-have, and you cn never go wrong with a camel Burberry trench.

Well, the fashion industry seems to still be big on leather, and why not have a pair of camel leather leggings? No the tracksuit is a different case. You don't have to pick one. (that's the fashion-obsessed me arguing with money-conscious me! I hate it when we fight..)

Yes another pair of pants.. sorta.. These Sandro poetique slouch pants are perfect for a smart look. I can already see the colours of brown, white, camel beige together in a beautiful ensemble canvas. Yes I'm getting all poetic. Go figure!

And finally, ending my post with the perfect Michael Kors boots. Well you can't really wear them when it's rainy, or muddy, because they'll get dirty pretty quickly. But look at them. Aren't you already picturing them with a few things from your wardrobe??

On that note I will leave you with a song I discovered a couple of nights ago while I was out with my friends.

ta-ta for now,
Bambi
